Find the right saw the FIRST time, the only time.
We live in an area where it’s more financially viable to burn wood in our fireplace than that it is to turn on the electric heaters. This only saves us money if I can acquire the firewood myself earlier in the year. This usually means going on our property and cutting down pine, fir, madrone and oak trees. We currently burn about three cords of wood a winter, that’s a lot of firewood.
When I first started gathering firewood I was a complete city newbie. I didn’t know the first thing about chain saws, brands and quality. I got some miss-information on the kind of chain saw I needed and ended up spending $300 on a Husqvarna 440E. I later found out that this model was great for light to heavy yard clean up but not something that you would use for firewood.
After that year of struggling to knock out three cords of wood with a severally underpowered chain saw I decided to research the matter properly and in depth. Needless to say, I have since upgraded to a Husqvarna 460 which is PERFECT for my needs. Cutting down trees is like slicing through butter!
I never want anyone to go through what I did. There is a lot of miss information out there on the best brands and quality when it comes to the world of chains and their cousins.
The goal of this site is to give value through informative and high quality reviews to help you find the right chainsaw for the right price and occasion.
