Top 5 Battery Powered Chainsaw

Looking for a chainsaw that is a little more mobile?  Have you ever thought about a battery powered chainsaw?  The idea is not as crazy as it sounds, most battery operated chain saws are just as powerful when it comes to cutting wood as their corded plug brethren.  Of course the major downside to a battery operated chainsaw is that the charge will last anywhere between 15 to 30min depending on how you are using it.  Just make sure you always have spare battery in the charger and you should be fine.

Listed on this page are the top five battery operated chainsaws that we have come across.  Some are professional grade while others are geared toward the more budget minded user.

GreenWorks DigiPro G-MAX 40V Li-Ion 16-Inch Cordless Chainsaw

I have really enjoyed the GreenWorks Cordless Chainsaw, it gives me a lot of access to make difficult cuts and the battery will last me all day long if I use it sparingly. I was skeptical at first because I have bought other cordless chainsaws that were not powerful enough to make the heavy cuts I require but this worked perfectly. My hands did not cramp up from holding the chainsaw because the vibration is minimal and I was surprised at how quiet the motor is.

I feel guilty cutting in the morning with my gas chainsaw, the GreenWorks allows me to cut in the morning and at night without the stress of potentially waking up my neighbors. I prefer to use the GreenWorks chainsaw because gas can be expensive and I find myself using my gas powered chainsaws less and less. I have used this chainsaw for about three months and I have had no problems with it, I would highly recommend it to anyone that needs basic to intermediate cuts.  Find this saw for about $199 dollars.

Black & Decker 20V Max Lithium Ion Chainsaw, 10-Inch

I was a little hesitant in purchasing a battery powered chainsaw because I did not think it would equal the performance of my gas powered saws. Let me assure you, this is impressive and its power is capable of demanding cuts.

It features a 10 inch blade and a 20V max Lithium battery that can handle an extraordinary amount of cuts. I wish I would have purchased this sooner; I used to make fun of my friends for using cordless power tools, now I see the error of my ways. It takes about 5 hours for the battery to fully charge, I recently ordered a backup battery so I can charge one while using the other. To be honest, I prefer this model to the other gas chainsaws I own. The Black and Decker is also a good price ($129 dollars) and I would recommend to anyone in the market for a new chainsaw.

Black & Decker 40-volt Cordless Chainsaw, 12-Inch

This is a great saw for cutting and trimming around the household, it features a 12 inch bar and chain so it can handle some heavy cuts.  One of my friends recommended the Black & Decker and I am very satisfied. It also comes with a Blade Tension System and an Auto-Oiling System which is nice because I don’t have to spend a lot of money on oil for my blade and gas.

There are many cordless chainsaws on the market but I have other Black & Decker products and I felt comfortable purchasing from a trusted name. A cool feature of the Black & Decker line of battery powered products is many of them can use the same battery, so it is convenient to have a battery ready if it runs out of power.

This saw is much more powerful running at 40 volts instead of the the 20 volt model.  Get this saw now for about $199 dollars.

Makita 18V X2 LXT Lithium-Ion (36V) Cordless Chain Saw

There are so many great features on the Makita Cordless Chainsaw. First of all, it has a 3 year factory warranty, so if something goes wrong Makita will replace it or refund your money during the first thirty days.

Unlike other chainsaws on the market, Makita gives you two lithium ion batteries to ensure any job is completed. It can handle most cuts and is quiet enough that you will not need earplugs or have to worry about unpleasant looks from your neighbors. It comes with a 12 inch chain and bar so I do not have to worry about deep cuts for the Makita can handle a lot more cuts than I previously expected. I am more than satisfied with my purchase.  At this is a great gift for anyone who needs to do some tree trimming or pruning.

GreenWorks 80V 18-Inch Cordless Chainsaw

The 18 inch GreenWorks Cordless chainsaw contains the highest voltage in the market. It seems to run as fast as my gas powered chainsaws and I have increased accessibility with the battery powered chainsaw.

The battery did not come with this chainsaw!  Its a separate purchase.

I really like how lightweight the saw is and how I do not have to worry about mixing gas and oil. I seem to use this more than my other saws, it comes fully assembled out of the box and I have had no problems with since I purchased it six months ago. It truly is an impressive chainsaw and performs great on many heavy cuts that are usually reserved for my gas chainsaws. This saw will change your opinion on cordless chainsaws, do not be scared to give it a try.  Find it now for only $199 dollars.

Battery powered chainsaws are great if you need to be mobile with your work and create less noise pollution.  You get what you pay for.
